You are your own best friend and your own worst enemy

FLOWER2

When I got my current job last year after a 6 week redundancy my mum gave me a congratulations card, on that card were these very words. At first they sound like a right cheese sandwich (sorry mum) but let them sink in and realise how powerful they are.

After suffering with crippling health anxiety for 2 years this card was the kick in the right direction for me, the truth in black and white that it was in my hands to change everything. Not the therapist who I went to see every other week for 6 months, not the stupid medication the doctors put me on that made me bloated and spotty and not the people who I constantly relied on to reassure me that 'everything is and will be ok'!! As soon as I started to think differently things quickly changed.

I stopped using the Internet to google my problems (NO a headache does not necessarily mean a brain tumour), I stopped asking for reassurance from my loved ones and I trained myself to turn all of  my negative thoughts into positive ones. (I also came off the pill which definitely helped....hormones and anxiety don't mix well). It was bloody hard work and took time but eventually I started to feel better. This then gave me the push I needed to get out more and see my friends, do things that were outside of my comfort zone. I decided it was about time I conquered my fear of flying after not getting on a plane for nearly 3 years...how would I see the world if I didn't fly?!

I found a guy about an hour away from me who has a website called the 'Mind Healer'. He specialises in a type of hypnotherapy called PSTEC (conditioning responses by way of repetition), I am not going to try and explain it as its a little bit weird and quite frankly I don't understand how it works but after reading up on it I decided I had nothing to lose. One of the reasons why I went for this over normal hypno was because it is possible for it to work over 1-2 sessions (this is along with using the technique in your own time at home) . I went along extremely apprehensive and came out calm and optimistic. Before my first session I was ranking 11 on the scale of 0-sh*t scared of flying and after a few weeks I boarded a plane to Turkey. I was SO PROUD and I definitely think that the stuff he taught me (training the mind) not only helped with my fear of flying but helped with my fear of life!!!!!

Fast forward to today and I think with a combination of the above I am the happiest I have been in years. I still have my mega down days but I think in comparison to when I first started this blog...it's nothing.

Life is too dam short guys....worrying is time wasted, it won't change a single thing.

Attend Amsterdam Fashion Week with Fashionchick

Shorts- c/o Glamorous
Top, Shoes, Bag & Sunglasses- Primark
Necklace- Topshop

A couple of weeks ago Fashion Chick asked me if I would like to take part in their Amsterdam Fashion Week competition. They are looking for bloggers to showcase their stand out Mercedes Benz FW summer outfit and tell everyone why all eyes should be on them during fashion week.

I wasn't sure whether I was cool enough for this but I thought I'd give it a go!

(You can find all of the details here)

If it's warm enough to wear shorts in Britain then why not in Amsterdam. These shorts from Glamorous would be the perfect bold statement for fashion week, helping you stand out from the crowd but also leaving you feeling comfortable in the knowledge you won't be flashing your bridgets if the wind blows!

Heels may not seem like the most sensible choice for walking (running?) between shows but these flatforms are SO comfy and make my stumpy legs look slightly longer (always good when wearing shorts)

A large clutch would be a must to carry all of my clutter, this one is super roomy and the gold hardware compliments this AMAZING bohemian style necklace from Topshop

My suitcase essentials would be suncream (gotta protect the skin), Moisturiser (need to keep the pins looking nice), summery perfume, lipstick and a bright nail polish.

And lastly...if my feet tire of the flatforms I would just slip on my converse

Glamorous Kimono- Look two

Kimono- c/o Glamorous
Jeans- Topshop
Everything else- Primark

Yesterday I posted a laid back summer outfit with this amazing kimono and today I have something a little more sophisticated (sometimes I like to pretend I am fancy!!) I love the versatility of kimonos which is apparent from the fact I can't stop buying them, they are just so comfy...like an invisible cardigan!

I wore this out for a posh meal with the boyfriend which actually turned out to be the worst meal I have ever experienced....but that's a different story! He also got electrocuted in the hotel room whilst we were getting ready..... we should have known where the night would end up after that!!!

Glamorous Kimono- Look one

I am unsure as to whether this kimono makes me look like human cattle but I still love it. I also love these shoes although they should come with a warning, I nearly came face to face with the pavement a few times during the weekend!!

Hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine? Going back to work was hard for me today after spending 2 lovely days in the beautiful city of York. Not only was the weather on our side but we had a 10ft bed and 2 roll top baths in front of a flat screen TV to enjoy. There is nothing like an afternoon of excel after 2 days of pure luxury!

Dressing up an outfit- Barry M Gelly 'Passion Fruit'

STATEMENT JEWELLERY BARRY M GELLY HI SHINE PASSION FRUIT

Necklace & Rings- Primark
Top- F&F

Sometimes I think it is the accessories that make an outfit. I love how a simple black dress can be transformed with some chunky rings and a coat of bright nail polish or in this case a stripey tee with a bold statement necklace. There has many a time when my effort to put together an outfit is slim to non but a stand out piece of jewellery and a lick of paint (on the nails) has saved the day!
'Passion Fruit' is yet another addition to my Barry M Gelly collection and is a gorgeous juicy shade for summer. I love that in 2 coats I can get a fully opaque and glossy finish...perfect for lazy bones like me!! Top coat...what coat??!!!

PRIMARK PALM PRINT SKIRT

Primark skirt 5 Primark skirt 4 Primark skirt 6 primark skirt 7

Jumper- Boohoo
Skirt & Bag- Primark
Jacket- Debenhams

Pass me a coconut and some suncream coz I am going tropical!! *She says whilst it's bucketing it down outside!*

How insane is this Primark skirt...I am so in love with the graphic palm tree print and the cut of it is perfection. Did I mention it was also only £9?!! Sometimes I can't get my head around Primark prices, you would definitely see something similar in Topshop for 3 times the price. I know I am going to wear this till it walks off me in the summer!

Just chillin in my Boohoo tee on the beach!! I was in Anglesey this weekend visiting my boyfriends family so it was only right that we ventured down to the shore, stuffed our chops with salty chips and took some pictures by a rusty old sail boat.
