Shirt & Nail Polish- Primark
Jacket- F&F
Earrings- Forever 21

Just a few things I have picked up over the last 2 weeks. I have been wanting a large boyfriend shirt for a while now and this Primark one is perfect, it reminds me of the motel print that was making its round a few months ago.
The jacket was impossible to resist and the earrings go perfectly with it, I haven't worn studs in years and these caught my eye so I thought why not!

Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray

Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray

I haven't tried the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray before so I can't fully confirm if the Charles Worthington Volume and Bounch Texturising spray is an exact dupe, I do however know that a lot of bloggers have compared the two and said they are pretty darn similar.

I am a big fan of the Charles Worthington Salon at Home range after using the Moisture Seal Mineral Hair Rescue Masque and falling truly, madly, deeply in love with it so I was excited to try the texturising spray. At £6.99 for 150 ML you get a lot more bang for your buck compared to the Oribe spray which comes in at £18 for 75 ML.

The Charles Worthington Texturising Spray really doesn't disappoint in the volume department, I have naturally very straight and quite limp hair so it's nice sometimes to have a bit of help. When you spray it on it does feel a little bit like hair spray but you do get that back combed feel which helps add the definition. I am not a big fan of backcombing as I am scared of damaging my hair so this is good for giving my hair volume on top when I tie my hair back. It also sticks around all day, sometimes when I use hair spray the hold drops after a few hours. Lasty, the scent is really lovely, quite fresh and slightly fruity.

Straight haired girls, this is definitely worth buying!

I need your help guys. My black Leigh jeans (which have appeared in far to many of my outfit posts) need a lighter coloured companion. I have purchased four I REPEAT FOUR different pairs of Leighs in the past month and they have all been returned. I don't know if it's just me but Toppers seem to have changed the material or fit of their jeans and it breaks my heart!!! I like my skinnies to look sprayed on and the new Leigh jeans just sag on my bum and at the knees.....sniff.

Where can I find a decent pair of skinny jeans on the highstreet? Topshop if your reading this, my love affair with your jeans is over. Did no one ever tell you.......if it ain't broke DON'T fix it.

So Cal Gal

So Cali

I am moving on from pastels and onto palm trees. Having lived in America for a year I can fully appreciate the So Cal trend that is making its way round the highstreet at the mo. I spotted this amazing palm tree print jacquard tee in Topshop the other day and instantly had visions of white ripped skinnies and slip on skaters...hence this post. I love how Cali girls always look so effortless with their cool laid back style and beachy waves in their hair. I have been meaning to get my hands on a large barrel wand for a while now and this Cloud 9 one from  Hairtrade looks perfect.

If only we had some sunshine!!

Pear drops beauty sleep overnight whitening serum

Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep

I am a sucker for anything that claims to whiten my teeth and usually I am fooled. A fair few of my pennies have been spent on whitening products for them only to be tossed in the bin along with their empty promises (deep stuff this!)

I bought the Pearl Drops Beauty Sleep serum after seeing a number of positive reviews from beauty bloggers and although I am still not the proud owner of  a set of glowing gnashes, I am pleasantly surprised with the results.

I will say straight away that I think this product will work differently for everyone. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed in the teeth department and have battled with tooth discolouration all of my life.

Rather than a toothpaste, pearl drops beauty sleep is a gel which you apply after brushing and leave on overnight (great for lazy people like me). As well as helping to whiten teeth it also works to nourish your gums. I sometimes suffer with bleeding whilst brushing so I was pleased to hear this and it actually works. In the morning my gums do feel and look a lot healthier.

I used a pea sized amount of the serum on both my top and bottom teeth every night for a week, after a few days I started to notice small patches of bright white breaking through the middle of my front teeth and the darkest of my toothy pegs also appeared a lot lighter. Where as I haven't noticed a huge difference with this product, it has definitely improved the general appearance of my teeth. To be honest I didn't expect if to work miracles as my teeth really were quite dark.

I would say that this product would produce the best results on someone with naturally quite white teeth who just want to improve them by a shade or two. For under £2 it's definitely worth a go.

Have you used the Pearl Drops Beauty Dleep Serum? What did you think of it?

Whistles clutch dupe

These photos nearly didn't make it onto the blog but I decided to embrace the imperfections. The exposure is awful, there is rubbish all around my feet (I was unaware at the time) and a prize goes to the first person who can spot the phallic graffiti behind me!
What's important though is that you can see this amazing Primark number that is somewhat reminiscent of a certain Whistles clutch that I love but can't quite afford. This one was a mere £4 and the dainty snake skin detailing with the gold hardware is just perfect.

Reasons to be thankful

Flowers

I am often guilty of a little pessimism. When life gets stressful it is all too easy to focus on the negatives and forget about the little things that we should be grateful for.
After reading the lovely Rosie's blog for a long time now and especially loving her '10 things that have made me happy this week' posts, I decided it was about time I spread some positivity myself.

Here are 10 things I am thankful for this week:

1. The beautiful Birthday flowers that my Mum bought me which are still going strong after a month.

2. The person who left their ASOS magazine on the train for someone else to enjoy. It brightened up my journey home from work.

3. The lighter mornings and evenings. It makes going to work 9-5 so much easier.

4. The 5 amazing years that me and Tim have been together on Tuesday.

5. My trains being on time all week.

6. Having a plan free weekend. Life has been pretty hectic recently and it's nice to have an empty weekend where I can relax and unwind.

7. The little corgi dog next door who sits in the window everyday. He puts a smile on my face when I leave the house in the mornings.

8. My Grandad....he always take the time to send me emails after reading my blog and it warms my heart.

9. Tesco and its 2 dine for £10 meals. I can have a delicious meal this evening and all I have to do is turn the oven on! I love lazy Sundays.

10. The opportunities my blog has given me recently. I love my little space online and it's nice to know that other people do too.

What are you thankful for this week?

White wishes

Pastel wishlist1

This gorgeous eye watering Olivia Burton watch inspired me to do this post and now I wish I hadn't as I want everything on it. Whilst I know pastels are going to be big again this Spring/Summer, for some reason I am leaning more towards white! I saw an oversized white blazer in Primark the other day and it really caught my eye, this one from Sheinside is quite similar and would look amazing with a slogan tee, ripped skinnies and some rose gold jewellery, which brings me on to these lovely pieces from Astrid & Miyu. Having recently discovered this brand I have straight away fallen for their beautiful but affordable designs and particularly love this rose gold midi ring with white stones.

The bag, shoes, candle and jeans are on there because they are pretty and I need them!

L'oreal Elvive New Extraordinary Oil

loreal Elvive new extraordinary hair oil

I am sure most of you will agree that the thought of putting oil on your hair (or face) is a little bit off putting. I spend most of my life washing and blow drying my hair to avoid the grease so why would I want to add to it??

I have no idea how and why oil is good for your hair but I do know that the Loreal Extraordinary Oil is super duper. Although I don't really colour or use a lot of heat on my hair, I still have really bad flyaways and splits ends. It drives me mad after drying my hair when the top looks like I have just rubbed it with a balloon! This is a multi usage oil which can be applied before shampooing, before drying or after drying as a finishing touch.

It has a gorgeous floral scent and feels really silky when you pump it onto your fingers. I find I only need two small pumps and I have quite long hair. I usually apply from my roots down to the tips before blow drying and I it really makes a huge difference. My hair is a lot smoother and feels really nourished for a few days after, it definitely also looks a lot healthier.

For £9.99 it's such good value for money as a little goes a long way and the bottle is huge.

My sister bought me this as a Birthday present, she knew I had used a sample of it and loved it so if your reading sis....THANK YOUUUU!

* The Yankee candle in the background is 'Paradise Spice' (another Birthday gift from my sister) and is absolutely devine. Think tropical fruit salad mixed with cinnamon, OMG it's amazing *

Primark P.S Love Make Up Range

PS Love primark lipstick 3

Primark P.S LOVE Lipstick

When I saw Primark had a new make up range I must admit I was dubious, my thoughts wandered back to the days of Barbies and plastic make up sets that smelt like plasticine and stained everything in sight......I shouldn't have been so harsh!!
I grabbed this fuchsia lipstick on my lunch break the other day and it has been on my lips ever since. First of all, lets talk about how nice the packaging is! I love that you can see the product at one end when the lid is on and I think the gold and black packaging is really grown up. A lot of the other products were homed in little black boxes with gold polka dots on, I was smitten and just wanted to buy it all!
Taking off  the lid I was a little panicky when I saw the actual lipstick as the colour is quite garish and the bullet looks very waxy, it is however the exact opposite. The consistency is really buttery, almost like a gloss and is not sticky at all. One thing I love about this lipstick is that it isn't in the slightest bit drying and the colour is really buildable. It also lasts for a substantial amount of time. It actually reminds me a lot of a colour from MAC (the name escapes me) and it smells like a nice fruity lipbalm...not the plasticy smell I expected it to have. I really shouldn't judge so soon!
For £1 I will definitely be buying all of the other colours.
Have you tried any of the Primark P.S Love range?

The sun is out, the flowers are starting to bloom yet I still seem to gravitate towards dark colours!!! I saw this tee/dress on a shop assistant in Miss Selfridge and I was really drawn to the digital print. I think it would look best worn as a shift with bare legs, ankle socks and chunky boots but I can't bring myself to get the pins out just yet...maybe next time!

How to take good blog photos

How to take good blog photos How to take good blog photos 2 How to take good blog photos 3

I have had my blog for nearly 2 years now and along the journey I have learnt a lot about photography. Granted , the manual for my camera has never been opened and I still don't fully understand what all the scary buttons and dials mean but I do feel as though my picture quality has improved somewhat over the years. This has been through a combination of trial and error, lots of googling and taking advice from lovely bloggers.

My beautiful friends got me an amazing (and extremely thoughtful) gift for my Birthday in the form of a photography book  'The busy girls guide to digital photography' and it inspired me to do a post on my tips and tricks on how to take good blog photos.

(This is what works for me, please don't take me for a professional...I am still very much an amateur!!!!!)

1. Lighting- I know this is horribly obvious but it really does make a HUGE difference to your photos when you take them in good, natural light. When I am taking product photos indoors I stand with the light source behind me (my window) and make sure all lights in the room are turned off. I never shoot with the flash indoors as it drowns out the pictures.

2. Set up- My house is full of wooden furniture and I was forever feeling jealous about those who had beautiful clean/white backgrounds in their pictures so I decided to get creative. My boyfriend works for a company that has it's own factory so I asked him to locate some white plastic for me (about the size of a small table). I place the plastic on top of a small set of wicker drawers to create a flat surface and it works perfectly.

3. Props- To make your pictures look a bit more fun and creative, use props. I tend to theme the props around the product I am taking a picture of, the Barry M nail polish above is from their new 'Spring' collection, Spring reminds me of Easter and Easter makes me think of Mini Eggs....easy peasy!

4. Composition- Remember....photography is a work of art and composition is the key to creating a really strong image. Try to off centre your products (or model) as much as possible. Try taking pictures at different angles, use symmetry, texture and depth of field. When you look through the viewfinder that should be your final image, you should avoid having to crop your pictures during the editing stage.

5. Depth of field- I am going to avoid the technical explanation of this because I don't fully understand it myself but this is when a focal point in a picture is really sharp and the background is blurry. My camera has a nifty little setting that does this for you but there are loads of really good tutorials on the Internet to explain how to do this.

6- White tack- White tack will become your closest friend when taking pictures of make up products in particular, it just means your new tube of mascara won't be rolling around the shop whilst you are trying to photograph it!

7. Picmonkey- I absolutely love this site for editing my pics. I usually just play around a bit with the brightness and contrast of them but it is a really great tool if you want to add text or filters to your images.

8. Buy this book....it's brilliant!!

Nuxe Pamper Hamper

NUXE Pamper Hamper

It it coming up to Spring and I am in need of a bit of TLC after the long, cold winter months. My hair is looking unloved, my skin is dry and my nails are looking miserable. I have always wanted to try NUXE so what better way to start than compiling a pamper hamper wish list of products I am dying to get my hands on.

For a pamper session to be really good we have to cover all areas. Hair, body, face, hands and nails.

I have heard so many bloggers talk about how good this little beauty is. I suffer with dry, chapped lips all throughout the year so this seems like the perfect solution. Apparently one is sold every 28 seconds around the world so it must be something to shout about!

Hands up....I chose this because of the name. I absolutely love fondant fancies and with orange, Lychee and walnut extracts this is bound to smell sweet as a cake. I am often guilty of skipping out the exfoliation process during my 'pamper' sessions but this sounds too good to miss out.

NO PAMPER SESSION IS COMPLETE WITHOUT A CANDLE!

Who's to say you can't have beautiful red lips whilst you are wrapped in a towel! This is supposed to taste like Mangos too so I am sold.

This can be used on both face and eyes and is suitable for sensitive skin (thumbs up from me) It contains some gorgeous ingredients including coconut derivative (whatever that means), macadamia oil and rose petal floral water. The first step to pampering is removing all of your make up and this seems like the perfect way!

During winter my hands get super dry as do my nails. This non greasy product claims to repair and relieve dry and damaged hands and also protects them from visible signs of skin ageing. This is something I have to start thinking about now!

I was reading through a magazine today and apparently this sell out oil was a must have at Paris Fashion week. I am all for a multi usage product and this bad boy can be used on the face, body and hair. YES PLEASE!

Not going to lie....these photos came with tears!! I think I have come to the realisation that I prefer being behind the camera rather than in front of it. I have always been happy with my body for as long as I can remember but I really hate close up pictures of my face. It is a strange one because when I look at myself in the mirror I feel ok but when I look at pictures of myself I cringe. This is why I wear sunglasses in a lot of my outfit posts....rain or shine!
I am going to work on this, maybe I need to take more relaxed photos rather than posey ones where I am trying and failing to pull off the 'straight from a magazine cover' model look! I think a lot of my self confidence issues surfaced when my anxiety was really bad 2 years ago. Does anyone else feel like this or am I alone???

On a side note, I am very happy with the new top I purchased in the kids section of New Look!! Either kids are super tall these days or I am just really small, but I am not complaining because small means cheap and I bagged this gorgeous gingham number for £7.99.

Hope you all had a nice weekend.
