A love affair with Kiko

Kiko Lipstick (911 Watermelon)
Kiko Nail Lacquer (339 Cornflour)

Whilst I was in London I stepped into KIKO for the very first time and it was love at first sight. The  love grew even more when I purchased these 2 products and I got them home and tried them.

I didn't know too much about KIKO before going into the store, I had just heard a few bloggers talk about their products. I was really surprised by how affordable everything was without compromising on stylish packaging. I picked up the lipstick and nail varnish in their sale and both came to £4.50, thinking about it now I am kicking myself for not buying some more stuff!

The lipstick is literally a dream, it feels like a gorgeous mixture between a lipstick and lipgloss and glides on like velvet. It feels absolutely amazing on and not at all sticky or drying (a pet hate for someone like me who always has dry lips), it also smells lovely...slightly vanillary like the mac products. The colour pay off is really nice too and lasts for quite a long time.

The nail polish is equally as gorgeous and I adore the colour for the transition into spring. The brush is a really generous size and the polish itself is a good consistency. I wore it on my nails for a good few days without any chips (you can see it on my nails on below)

If you go on the KIKO website and register as a new customer they are currently offering FREE delivery. With nail varnishes starting at 50p you would be stupid not to check it out!!!

Fashion blogging & internet shopping

online shopping
The Internet....it’s a wonderful thing. Think about how much we use it in our everyday lives and we wonder how we ever coped without it. The world is constantly at our fingertips whether we are at work, at home or on the go and when it comes to fashion the Internet is an overwhelming source of inspiration and convenience.

Before I started Lolacolakate on a rainy Sunday back in 2012 my Internet usage pretty much boiled down to Facebook and my guilty Daily Mail pleasure, but now I have been introduced and welcomed into this amazing (and growing) world of Fashion/Beauty Blogs, Street Style and of course...Online Shopping.
Admittedly before my blog was born, apart from the occasional spontaneous ASOS purchase, I never really shopped online. I could never quite put a finger on what my style was and to be honest my knowledge of online brands was pretty nonexistent. Fast forward 2 years and there have been some significant changes round here!

Fashion blogs and the buzz that surrounds them are a constant source of inspiration for me. It is through discovering my favourite blogs that I have been introduced to a plethora of new brands, styles and online stores. My continually growing Twitter family are forever opening my eyes to new products, offers, promotions and discounts that I never would have found wandering around my local shopping centre. I can shop in the comfort of my own home (more than likely in my PJ’S and donning a top knot) and I don’t have to worry myself with busy shop floors and changing rooms messier than my bedroom floor...(COUGH COUGH Primark!!!)

I have also found some amazing online stores which cannot be found on the high street. You can find some really unique one off pieces on places such as ASOS marketplace which reduce the chance of those awkward party moments when you are wearing the same dress as your ex’s new girlfriend!!

So what influences my online spending habits?

I won’t spend an arm and a leg on delivery unless it’s an emergency ‘I need a dress for tomorrow and it’s 9pm’ sort of situation and I also tend to stay away from buying shoes as 9 times out of 10 they won’t fit my ridiculous boat feet. This however is all trivial and with a substantial number of online stores offering reasonable return policies, these things don’t tend to turn me off shopping online.

When I can save time, money and still look good for it, count me in!!!

Have you found that blogging influences your online shopping habits?

Don't count the days, make the days count

When the stresses of everyday life start to pile on top of you it is amazing what a few days away can do!

For my Birthday Tim surprised me with a trip to the capital. We spent our time...

There is old railway station near my parents house where I used to play as a child, it holds lots of happy memories and as me and Tim were in the area today I thought it would be an amazing place for some outfit photos.

I went into Monki for the first time whilst I was in London and I think I did pretty well coming out with only one thing, it was my Birthday though so a purchase was necessary. This top really stood out to me and I wish they had it in other colours....I will definitely be stalking the website from now on!!!

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

Lately I have found myself being drawn to blogs with a blend of beautiful photography and fashion and have decided it's what I aspire my blog to be. I have a small amount of skills in both but I am really keen to learn. Today me and Tim went to Lyme Park in Cheshire for a sunny walk and also to try out taking photographs in different lighting and settings. I really enjoyed playing around with the camera and I super pleased with the results. What do you think?

Shower me with kisses

Shower products

Showers are a huge part of our lives (I hope!!!) so I thought I would share some of my favourite products that I like to use during showertime.

Soap & Glory Rich & Foamous Body Wash
I have been a fan of Soap and Glory for a long while now but it wasn't till after Xmas that I was graced with the scent of the Rich & Foamous Body Wash. This stuff is literally good enough to slather on your breakfast (please don't) and makes washing a truly pleasant experience. A large pump  bottle like this one costs £6.50 from Boots and even with excessive use it will last you for AGES.

Alberto Balsam coconut and Lychee Shampoo
I have tried pretty much every brand of shampoo under the sun and I pretty much hate them all! They either make my hair greasy after one day, give me a flaky scalp (sorry) or just generally make my hair lifeless and flyaway. The Alberto Balsam shampoos can be found in most supermarkets and are only 99p, I have been using this brand for years now and I will never look back. The coconut and lychee is my favourite of all the scents, it is like holiday in a bottle.

Argan Oil Shampoo/Conditioner
I realised after taking these pics that I had included the shampoo instead of the conditioner but it's ok...the bottles both look the same. I found these for 99p in home and bargain and was too intrigued not to try! They are not for everyday use but the conditioner is a lovely treat for hydrating and nourishing your hair when it needs some love.

What are your favourite shower products?

(My wash bag was on sale for £2.50 from Tesco)

This outfit was inspired by the super stylish Lexi from Fashion Filth . The lace top had been sitting at the bottom of my wardrobe for years, I had never been a fan of the sleeves so when I saw a pic of Lexi rocking a lace top under a crop jumper I took to it with some scissors and made it into a tank. Now I can wear it under anything and I have given it a new lease of life...YES!

UNA BRENNAN Intense moisture mask 4
UNA BRENNAN Intense moisture mask 3
The skin gods have answered my prayers!!!!
I have been trying and failing for weeks to combat my winter skin, excess exfoliation and slapping on the moisturiser just wasn't doing the trick. After hearing some good things about UNA BRENNAN skincare I decided to pop down to Boots and give the Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Intense Moisture Mask (MOUTHFUL) a try, I am so glad I did.

What is says on the tube:

'Boost skin moisture levels and radiance with Superfacialist thirst-quenching Intense Moisture Mask developed even for the most sensitive skins.
It expertly blends White Willow extract, known to enhance skin cell turnover, Vitamin E and Urea with soothing Marshmallow extract to effectively hydrate, plump and replenish skin.
Complexion appears calmer and visibly renewed, glowing with a healthier radiance.'

Before using the mask I removed all of my make up and gave my skin a really deep cleanse with my sanctuary foaming cleanser and then the Clarins exfoliating toner. I used a generous amount of the mask all over my face (avoiding my eye area) and let it sit for around 7 minutes. It did feel a little bit tingly which I thought was because of my sensitive skin but I was reassured after reading a few reviews from bloggers who said the same thing. My face didn't feel at all tight and the scent of the mask is really relaxing, it really did feel like I was having a treatment in a spa. I washed it off with warm water and a flannel and was absolutely amazed by the results.

My skin felt the softest it has been for months, it felt plump and smooth and like it had drank up a bath full of water!!! I thought my skin might have dried a little overnight but when I woke up in the morning it was still the same and my make up applied like a dream.

I am a shallow Sally when it comes to buying things, packaging really draws me in and this product is no exception. I have no problem keeping this next to my sink!

For £8.99 I have no hesitation in recommending this mask and I will definitely be using this regularly as part of my skin care routine.

Have you tried any UNA BRENNAN products?

Money saving samples

samples 7

It may have something to do with my frugal ways or the fact I have really ignorant skin and hair but I really dislike spending my hard earn pennies on products that I won't get along with. Inspired by Clarins 'see if you like it before you buy it' campaign I thought I would do a quick post on those cheeky samples you find in fashion mags.
Last week I bought Marie Claire magazine to entertain me whilst on a long train journey, the same day I came home and the boy had bought me a copy of ELLE. Before reading the mags I had a quick flick through to see what samples were on offer and I was surprised to see a good range of skincare and haircare (high end and drugstore). I am running out of my wake me up foundation and I don't want to repurchase so I am on the hunt for a newbie, this morning I reached for the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin sample and took it on a test drive. Turns out I'm not a fan but at least I didn't fork out the £8.99 for it to go to the bottom of my make up bag.
I also used the Loreal Extraordinary oil on my hair last night and today it feels amazing, definitely thinking about buying it (something I wouldn't have done if I hadn't had the sample.)
Recommendations (especially from beauty blogger) are always good but I prefer to test things out for myself. I have really sensitive and dry skin and also troublesome hair so more often than not I end up buying products and then rejecting them a few weeks later.
So remember ladies......before you throw your mags, check them for any hidden gems!

My jumper was one of the many things I bagged in the Zara sale and was a mere £8.

I have decided it's about time my outfit photos moved away from my garage door. Living in Manchester I am surrounded by cool locations so today me and Tim went to shoot some pics on a disused railway line near our house. I love how they have turned out and it wasn't as uncomfortable having someone take my pics as I first thought.
My jacket was £20 in the Zara sale and it hasn't left my back since I bought it, I am seeing a lot of Gingham on the high street lately so I think it's on its way back in.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
