My 'mini' favourites

Favourite mini products
Favourite mini products 2

I absolutely love it when products come in miniature versions. I don't know whether it's because I can pop them into my tiny inpratical clutch bags on a night out or just because they look cute lined up on my dressing table, either way if it can fit in the palm of my hand I'm sold!!!

I realised the other day that I had built up quite a collection of tiny products so thought I would showcase my favs in a post.

Bobbi Brown Mascara- This the only product I own from Bobbi Brown but I love it, it has definitely sparked the desire to own more. It makes my lashes lovely and long and doesn't clump, something I hate with a lot of drugstore mascaras. I never leave the house for a night on the tiles without this little beauty.

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl- When swatched this product looks terrifying but under your foundation it is absolutely gorgeous. Described as 'liquid pearl' this product gives your skin the most amazing healthy glow without looking like a disco ball (I'm looking at you Rimmel wake me up)!!

Bare Minerals Stroke of Light- I absolutely scraped the barrel with this one and keep meaning to purchase a full sized tube. For someone who suffers with dark circles and tired looking eyes this product is the holy grail!!!

Benefit High Beam- I love this product, it is so easy to use and creates such a lovely highlight without being too harsh. Benefit have the best mini's, I love their make up sets.

Victoria's Secret Noir Tease Perfume- This came in the gift set I bought in the Xmas sales and oh my goodness it is not going to last long. The scent is stunning, almost as good as Armani Si (my current favourite)

Metal tin (for my make up brushes): B&M 99p
My white Ikea pot (the one that all beauty bloggers seem to own) is actually currently being used a house a plant (it's actual purpose) so I needed a new place for my make up brushes. I love the home section in B&M so I knew I would find something in there, I love the cut out hearts on this one....very shabby chic.

Candle: Home & Bargain £2.99
In an ideal world my home would be filled to the brim with the large Yankee candle jars but I have bills to pay and a house to save for!!! This is the second candle I have had from Home & Bargain and I can tell you they are a damn good substitute. This one smells delicious and it looks pretty on my bedside table. These candles surprisingly last for months and they also burn evenly and without leaving horrible black marks around the rim.

Victoria's Secret Perfume £2.50
I bought the Forbidden Vanilla fragrance mist for my sister for Christmas so when I saw the perfume on sale it went straight in my basket. We all know my unhealthy obsession with Victoria's Secret smells!
Nail Varnish: (Daredevil) Topshop £3.00
I grabbed this gorgeous deep red shade in the sale the other day. I have a few Topshop nail polishes and they are amazing, also what's not to love about the polka dot packaging!!

£1.99 OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps

OPI Nail Apps 2
OPI Nail Apps
Every now & again if you look hard enough you will be able to find some amazing beauty items in the likes of B&M, Poundland and Home & Bargains. Whilst searching for some argan oil shampoo I came across these OPI Nail apps and for £1.99 I had to try them. These are a bit different to nail wraps as they are made from 100% pure nail lacquer and can be applied in minutes. I am usually horrendous at applying nail wraps however these were super easy to apply and to file down. You get 16 in a pack so there is room for error!!! They would look great on an accent nail or if you were having a special night out as a full set, the black and gold lace detail on these ones are lovely and look slightly oriental.

Victoria Secret Eau de Parfum Gift Set
I spotted this set on one of Fleur De Force's videos and thought it looked amazing. Lone and behold, I was in Victoria's Secret the other day (at the Trafford Centre) and it was on sale for £10 reduced from £41.....it was a no brainer! Quite often in fragrance gift sets you get a few that smell a bit iffy but I love every single one of these scents and they are all in such pretty bottles. The thing I love most about them is that they have spray tops so no wastage (something you don't want when they smell so good) !
My obsession with VS continues!!

Feetz Pocket Wellies

Portable Waterproof Overshoes....Who Need Wellies!!!
As a festival lover I think these Feetz Pocket Wellies are absolute genius. Rubber wellies are practical when splashing about in puddles on your daily dog walk but ever tried dancing for 10 hours a day in them? Or have you ever been at a music festival where they have predicted a beautiful sunshiny day, you don your converse and then the heavens open??? I have and it's not pretty.
Feetz fold up super small so they can fit in your handbag (or pocket) and then when natures takes it course, all you need to do is pop them over your shoes and your feet are instantly dry and warm. They come in sizes 4-6, 6-8 and 8-10 and currently retail for £9.99. The thing I like most about them is the adjustable cord around the top so they are nice and snug around your legs. There is nothing worse then rain and mud getting in your wellies!!!
What do you think of Feetz? Would you take them to a festival this summer?
(Although Summer seems super far away at the moment, you can also use Feetz in snow)

I love the whole 'distressed boyfriend jeans with pointed toe stilettos' look. I am not sure I suit them too well because of my height but I like this outfit...especially the shoes, I think they are amazing and they are half price online at the moment. I love the combination of gold and silver which unfortunately you can't see too well as Flickr keeps ruining my photographs!!!!

How I relax

ways to relax 3
ways to relax 2
Ways to relax
Some of you may know that over the past few years I have suffered with bad anxiety, I pretty much have it under control now (phew) but there are days when it likes to poke fun at me!!!
When I'm feeling a little bit anxious, stressed or down there are a combination of things that help me feel myself again. Today I am going to share with you my secrets:
1. Remove all of my make up and take a really HOT bubble bath. This really helps to relax me and also helps with the aches and pains you can sometimes get with stress. I never have a bath without a candle so there is always one resting on the shelf ready to be used.
2. Light my Yankee wax burner. I have one of the mosaic burners with a glass top so it creates the most gorgeous relaxing glow when you put a candle inside it. This may sound a little strange but I also find smells quite comforting, something like soft blanket is perfect for helping you relax.
3. Paint my nails. I find doing my nails quite therapeutic and is such a good distraction from any anxious thoughts running around in your head!
4. Read. Whilst waiting for my nails to dry I like to read a magazine and build mental wish lists of all the clothes I wish I could afford!
5. Blog. I firmly believe that my blog is one of the major contributors in helping to combat my anxiety. I went to see a cognitive behavioural therapist 2 years ago and one of the things he would always say is 'distract yourself with something you enjoy'.
6. Use lavender oil. This essential oil is the most amazing (multi purpose) Natural way to reduce anxiety and to relax you instantly. I put a few drops on my pillow before I go to sleep and it helps me sleep. You can also put a few drops behind your ear or on your temple and it helps to relieve tension.
How do you like to relax or wind down?

Beauty favourites 2013

Beauty faves 2013

Here's where I look back on the products that were lucky enough to end up on my face last year with some definite firm favourites that I know will continue into 2014.
Rimmel Wake Me up Foundation- I nearly didn't put this in my favourites, although it has been my go to foundation throughout the whole of 2013 the more I slap it on my face the more I dislike it. I have been noticing over the past few weeks that my T Zone has been extremely greasy (something new for me as I have always had dry skin) and realised that it was down to this foundation. The colour match is perfect (although the Edward Cullen glitter dust is slightly annoying) and it stays in place all day, however I don't wish to have skin like a chip pan so my hunt for the perfect foundation goes on...!
Real Techniques Blush Brush- Not much to say about this as I am sure you have all used or read reviews on these brushes before. The blush brush (as all real technique brushes) is ridiculously soft, it feels nice in your hand and creates a lovely subtle glow to your cheeks because of the pointed end.
Sanctuary Fresh Faced Purifying Wash- This stuff is so damn good even my boyfriend has been using stealing it! Sanctuary is amazing for those who suffer with dry, sensitive skin....this stuff has transformed my face. It has a nice fresh scent to it and a little goes a long way. I use a pea sized amount, lather it up in my hands with warm water and then massage it all over my face (you don't need a flannel or Muslin cloth with this cleanser), I then splash my face with cold water to close my pores and virtually ALL my make up has been removed....only when I wear waterproof eyeliner do I sometimes need some reinforcement.
Natural Collection Mascara- Name the mascara....I have tried it! After years of spending countless pounds on finding the perfect one I finally came to the realisation that nothing will beat my trusty natural collection lash length. It doesn't clump, it makes my eyelashes HUGE and it's only £1.99....AHHH Mazing!
Bourjois Colour Boost (Peach on the beach)- Cute name or what? I loved this lip product last year and although it would have been a perfect shade for summer, after discovering it in the winter I realised it's the perfect colour for all year round. The thing I love most about the colour boost lip crayons is how moisturising they are (they almost melt on your lips), they do not feel at all sticky either which I know is a pet hate with a lot of you! There isn't a huge range of colours to choose from in this range but there is definitely a colour for every skin tone, I want to try fuchsia Libra next....a vibrant and juicy pink!
Maybelline Brow Drama- YES.....finally a product that tames my unruly brows! I have caterpillar brows (they run in the family) and quite often they tend to stray out of place if I have just used a powder or pencil to fill them in. I decided to try brow drama after reading the hype and I am so glad I did. I'm not going to lie the weird shaped wand did scare me a little at first but after a few cack handed attempts I got used to it. My brows stay in place all day after using this and if you use it on its own then it makes your brows look structured but still natural.
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush- Same as above.... makes my foundation glide on like a dream!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Shadow Cream (Pink Pearl)- I have a confession, this was my first ever high end make up product (kindly donated by my mother) and it sparked an obsession. This shade is a gorgeous pink champagne shimmer which can be worn during the day or in the evening with a smoky eye. It is a really nice consistency and blends really easily on the lid, it does crease ever so slightly but nothing a bit of good quality primer can't fix.
Sleek Blush in Antique- I received this blush for Christmas after wanting to try Sleek for a really long time (thanks mum). I love how simple the packaging is (without looking cheap) and is the perfect size for popping in my handbag. I was a bit put off by the super obvious glitter that is in this blush but it doesn't really show up that much on your face (its more like a nice highlight). I love the shade of antique, although it looks quite dark in the pan, it transfers beautifully on the face and it gives you that 'outside in the cold' glow look.!
I hope you have enjoyed this post, I am really enjoying writing about beauty products at the moment.

Kimono- H&M
Skirt- Primark
Boots- Office
Gawd I'm so not photogenic.....it's a good job this amazing skirt detracts from my face region! I decided that with some of my Christmas money I wanted to invest in a leather skirt, I was all set to splurge in the likes of Topshop or Zara but then Primark surprised me with this gorgeous quilted one and at £10 I was able to spoil myself with a few Victoria's Secret treats....again! I need removing from that shop when I go in, I dragged Tim in with me the other day and he wasn't too impressed......"It's too bloody pink in here Laura", he didn't mind when the VS Angels appeared across a GIANT cinema screen at the back of the shop though!! Oh the male species....!

Smile and dress well

zara crop jumper 3
zara crop jumper 2

Jumper- Zara
Jeans- Topshop
Boots- Primark
Sometimes I wish I had someone to take beautiful blog photos for me, I would love for each outfit photo to be in a unique setting, a cool city backdrop, a sunny day on the beach, but for now reality means I have to settle with my rusty garage door and a tripod! I call it vintage....!
I ADORE this jumper from Zara which I snapped up in the Boxing Day sales, I have worn it till the cows came home and I will continue to do so right into Summer....I have had a few people stop me and ask where is it is from too. It is definitely one of my favourite post Xmas purchases and I love the 'Smile and dress well' slogan, something I might have to live up to this year....I think I may have just found my first New Years resolution!

Pink wishlist2
From Left to right:

Just a few things I would quite like to own right now

Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist

Victorias secret 2
My first time visiting a Victoria Secret store was back in 2007 when I was living in Florida for my University placement . I remember walking in and being overwhelmed by its gorgeous boudoir atmosphere and sheer abundance of Pink and I was hooked ever since. Not however on their beautiful lingerie (which I am still yet to try) but the amazing make up and perfumes, especially their fragrance mist collections. My first bottle was 'Love Spell', an unusual combination of cherry blossom and peach (most of the mists have fruity scents) and every time I smell it now not only do I feel a warm sense of nostalgia from my Florida days, I am also reminded of its gorgeous and refreshing scent.
I bought the above mist for my sister for Christmas and I have been dying to go back since to purchase one for myself. A lot of the scents are quite summery but 'Forbidden Vanilla' (love that name) is the most perfect sensual winter fragrance...sweet but musky and incredibly moreish (I kept smelling my jumper where I had sprayed the tester)
I am always surprised by how long these mists last on your skin and at only £11 they a lot cheaper than most perfumes. I think they make the pefect gift for someone special.
Although there are only a few VS stores in the UK you can buy most things online, I found this Ebay seller that sells the fragrance mists for £9.99 with free postage.
Have you tried any of the VS fragrance mists?
