lace and high tops!

Dress- h&m
shoes- Matalan

A very minimalistic look for me today....I'm practically naked!!!! I love this dress from h&m but god its short. I am sure when I first bought it I wore it out without tights so either I have grown or the dress has shrank. I think its the latter. I love mixing girly dresses with slightly more grungy/sporty items, hence the trainers. I can never quite go the full hog with girlyness its something I have always struggled with. As a child a was always in trainers and climbing trees in my addidas popper tracksuits........anyone else remember that god awful apparel???

MUA shade 24- review

My love for MUA continues to grow. This little beauty is shade number 24 from their £1 range. I’ve always had a tendency to stick to boring neutral eye shadows and pink shades are definitely something I would usually avoid. That was until I saw Kayleigh over at couture girl do a gorgeous FOTD with Macs cranberry and I was surprised how amazing a pink coloured eye shadow could look. As I am a tight arse and didn’t want to splash out on cranberry just in case it made me look like I had some gruesome eye infection or something I ventured out to find an alternative. Although this MUA shade isn’t really an exact dupe for cranberry I really like it and definitely recommend it.

The shadow is extremely pigmented and has amazing colour pay off. Sometimes I find with cheap eye shadows they are a bit powdery but this one is really creamy and applies like a dream. I used it without primer and was so surprised to find it lasted all day. I think it’s such a gorgeous colour and an amazing shade for autumn.

The close up shot of my eye makes me squirm a little, I’m not keen on full on close ups of my face and by the looks of it I need to pluck my eyebrows. I’m off to find the tweezers....and some concealer!!!!

Meditate, get hypnotized

Dress- h&m
shirt- primark
necklace- stole from a friend
shoes- Matalan

This outfit was an experiment and I kinda love it. It reminds me a bit of something Amy from the Little Magpie would wear and that is always a good thing (I like to pretend I am as cool as her). Those of you who haven't seen her blog shame on you....her style is flawless.
I braved Manchester today Christmas shopping and I didn't do too badly, however I did have to remove myself from Topshop as I could have ruined my credit card in there. Zara was even harder, I was in a haven of boucle tweed, leather and studs. Santa if your reading.....I have been good all year round I promise!!!

colours and promises

Jacket- Debenhams
Shirt- Primark
Hat- Primark
Skirt- H&M
Boots- Primark

I can't help but feel as though I blog the same items of clothing all the time but in reality I don't go shopping every weekend and yes I do wear things more than once.I saw a blogger once tweet about how they never wear the same outfit twice and it shocked me, what a waste of money and material!!!! I still wear things that I have had in my wardrobe for years and I'm not ashamed to say it, and If you hold on to things long enough they will eventually come back into fashion. I am however excited to get some new clothes at Christmas ...I have asked Santa for a few things including my dream jacket from H&M. Isn't it beautiful???

Guest post by SarahLoves- Patterned trousers

I was looking for someone to write a guest post for me and I was honoured when Sarah from Sarah loves said she would do one. I love what she has written and you should def go check out her blog its amazing and her pictures are bloomin lovely.
'This article has been written by Sarah from SarahLoves. You can also find her over on
twitter @sarahlovesblog'

Patterned trousers have been taking the fashion world by storm lately and with the cooler months in full swing they will only become more popular. From the high street to the catwalks they have graced every magazine, appeared in every well-known fashion store and featured on many independent fashion blogs. They are a great way to brighten up your outfit whilst keeping you warm and stylish.
Before patterned trousers became a big hit we had only ever seen legs graced with patterned leggings and tights. Patterned trousers compared to tights and leggings keep your legs much warmer. Tights are all very well but they can be too hot in the summer and have to be carefully styled during the winter. With leggings unless you are very brave or have a model's figure they are not for everyone. For some we cannot get over that fact it looks like you have left your skirt or shorts at home and are constantly on camel toe watch.
Patterned trousers can come in many different styles, patterned jeans, work style trousers and harem trousers. The most popular as of late has been in floral jeans and animal prints. I myself own a pair of red floral jeans and get compliments everywhere I go. They are bold and eye catching without being too much or revealing.
Patterned trousers are warm and versatile. They look just as great layered with jumpers, coats with woolly socks and boots as they do with sandals and a strappy top. They are perfect for climates like in Britain where even in the height of summer, trousers are the legwear of choice. You can wear them in the day time or out on the town at night.
They make a nice change from indigo denim jeans. They are statement trousers that make an impact. And just like jeans they can look really flattering if you go for a big print as can make your legs looks slimmer.
Unsure how to wear them? Let your trousers do all the work. Go with block coloured accessories in one of the same shades of the trousers, this will compliment them and keep the focus on your beautiful patterned trousers. For autumn you will want to work with layering, they go great with slouchy oversized jumpers, ankle boots and tucked into wooly warm socks. Don't be afraid to keep the rest of the outfit simple - this is the greatest thing about patterned trousers, they keep you effortlessly stylish.

Dress- Ebay
Jacket- Debenhams
Shoes- Primark

You know when you see your friend in something and you want it so bad that you order it the next day and then when you get it your not sure whether it looks that great on you?.......yea that!!!!!
I think its the pale legs, im giving Casper a run for his money in this picture but I refuse to wear fake tan as I'm too lazy. Im going to embrace the pale legs...whos with me??
I love the A/W oxblood trend and I love skulls, I especially love how subtle the skulls are on the dress. If you want to purchase this dress you can find it here in black and white (the link i bought mine from is no longer available)

shame on me now

Jumper- My boyfriends (Zara)
Scarfs- Primark
Necklace- Primark
Jeans- Topshop
Boots- Primark

I raided my boyfriends wardrobe again and came across this Zara jumper.....on it went!!!! I wanted to make it a bit more girly so I went with my neon necklace. I also decided to wear both of my skull scarfs together, I think it looks quite cool!!

You may have noticed that I have changed my header for the 75th million time (slight exageration) but I can confirm that I am finally happy with it, its girly but simple and I wont be changing it again....for a while. Promise!!!

you took my heart and held it in your mouth

Hat- Primark
Tee- New Look
Jacket- Debenhams
Jeans- Topshop
Boots- Primark

Dya like me new AT? This adorable little bobble was £2 from the kids section in Primark, it fits like a glove so either I have a really small head or kids these days have big noggings???
This weekend has been very low key. Yesterday we helped my friend move house and then went for a Curry at the hotel I work at. Today Tim got up at sparrows fart to go to the huge indoor car boot in Manchester. He came home proud as punch having found some marc jacobs daisy that was still wrapped in its box as a present for me. It was a bargain at £15 but unfortunately upon opening the box, Sherlock Holmes here sniffed an immediate fake, the bottle was the give away. It doesn't even smell remotely like daisy....the little swines. It smells quite nice though so all is not lost but it does annoy me. There are so many people out there selling fakes these days, especially on Ebay. My mum got stung buying Mac on Ebay and they were actually pretty close to the real thing. The only give away was the fact it didn't have the subtle vanilla smell that mac lipsticks have.
Be careful when buying online kids, there are some dodgy Davids out there!!!!

about me tag

Bonjourno. I saw this tag over on Charlies blog (def check it out) and I thought it was fun. So heres some more info about the girl behind Lolacolakate, plus a childish photo of me on the swings!!

                                            Are you named after anyone?

No. It’s funny because my parents named me Laura as they didn’t want me to have a name that could be shortened……I hardly ever get called Laura!!!
Nicknames include

Lola
Lau
Laurie
Lou
Laura Kate

When was the last time you cried?

Not going to lie, I did get a bit emotional during the end credits of Breaking Dawn last night. God dam vampire love stories.

Do you have children?

No but I do want kids before I’m 30.

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

Weird question??? Erm I’d like to think so.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Always, especially with my friends from home. I do love a bit of sarcasm, it makes life more interesting!!!

What's your favourite cereal?

EW. I can’t drink milk so cereal is off limits for me. Give me marmite on toast any day. Nom I want some now!!!!

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

This may sound shallow but, their clothes. I love fashion and I love to see what other people wear and how they style things.

What's your eye colour?

My eye colour is questionable. I would say they were bluey green (I may have just checked in the mirror!!)

Scary movie or happy endings?

Hmm depends what mood I am in. I do love a good scary movie but then I am a sucker for a good love story. Can you have a scary movie with a happy ending?

Favourite smells?

Soft blanket Yankee candle….the end!

Summer or winter?

Ok, both have their good points. Summer, I love the smell of freshly cut grass (even though I’m allergic) and I love sitting in a beer garden with friends drinking wine, however you can’t beat sitting in front of a roaring fire whilst your all cosy eating Christmas themed food!!

Computer or television?

Ipad. Can’t blog on the tele!!

What's the furthest you've been away from home?

I lived in Florida when I was 18. I did my University placement at Walt Disney World so I spent a year out there. Other than that…probably Cuba.

Do you have any special talents?

I used to be a super duper trampolinist but I gave it up when I went to uni. I still regret this now!

Where were you born?!

Winchester

What are your hobbies?

Obviously blogging and I am a massive foodie. I love going out for dinner soooo much.

Favourite movies?

Twilight without a doubt. But I did also think the hunger games was amazing.

Breaking Dawn

Jumper- H&M
Shorts- Primark
Shoes- Matalan
Necklace- Gift
Greasy hair- No excuse!!

I feel like a 90's throw back in these photos with my pony tail, all I need now is a scrunchie and I'm good to go....Fresh Prince of Bel air will be calling!!
I think I may have to surgically remove this jumper I have had it on everyday since I bought it on Tuesday but do you blame me? Its so dam cool. I needed some more jumpers in my winter wardrobe so I snatched this up for ten english pounds. H&M do baffle me sometimes with their prices, I always feel shocked looking at the labels, the clothes are either really cheap or stupidly pricey, no inbetween!!!
Anyway I am off for a power nap. I am going to see the last ever twilight tonight (sob) and it starts at midnight....Don't judge!!!

statement necklace wishlist

Left to right- 1.2.3.4.5

I am absolutely loving statement necklaces at the moment. I love how they can style up the simplist of outfits or can add a pop of colour to a plain black outfit. I thought I would share with you some of my fav that I found on the interwebs yesterday. How adorable is the elephant one from Topshop?

Every time the night falls down

Top- Orlando Hooters
Denim shirt- Primark
Fur waistcoat- Zara
Skirt- H&M
Boots- Primark
Head band- Primark

Mother bear bought me this amazing fur gilet/waistcoat (what do you call them?) for xmas last year and I have just rediscovered it, its so bloomin warm and soft. I have also rediscovered my hooters top which I secretly love, not sure whether its because it has an owl on it or its because it makes me feel a bit nostalgic. I bought it from the actual hooters whilst living in Orlando a few years ago. I wish they had a hooters in Manchester the food is YUM (hello chicken wings) and I'm sure my boyfriend would love it too.....not sure why!!!!!
