the place where dreams are made

At 16 people asked me what I wanted to do in life and my answer was go to University and do a placement year in America. I had never been to the states as a child and always used to dream about going so I deliberately took a event management university course with a placement year in order to hopefully make that dream happen.
Half way through first year we were told to start thinking about where we wanted to work, I immediately applied for every placement I possibly could that was in America but the one I was most excited about was Disney. I interviewed for them all not long after and I was lucky enough to be offered a place on all of them, Disney was just to much of an amazing opportunity to turn down so I took the offer. The deal was done, in August 2007 I packed my life into a suitcase and head for the sunshine state. My parents came with me which reallllyyy helped as I was so nervous and had never flown alone before, I had a bit of a disaster with my visa papers when I arrived but we were soon on the road for a weeks relaxation before the craziness began.

I had absolutely no idea where I was going to be living until the day before I was due to arrive, I remember vividly getting the phonecall to say I was going to be living the treehouse villas........YES A TREEHOUSE!!! To be honest I nearly died when I found out, out of all the apartments complexes I had been looking at and hoping I would be in I got told I was going to be living in a wooden hut in the forest.....great!!!

The next day we packed up the car and made the journey to Disney, I remember driving through the gates and being hit with the most overwhelming feeling of excitement mixed with crazy nerves and there was no going back. We arrived at the Treehouse Villas and it was exactly what I expected

When I first opened the door I almost ran all the way back to the airport, it stank of mould and looked like something out of a country and western film. Mum shipped us straight to Wallmart to get some cleaning products and bedding (they didn't even provide bedding) in order to try and make it more homely. On my return some of my room mates had arrived. I was SO nervous about who I was going to be living with but I was so lucky to be put with 4 amazing British girls whom I am still such good friends with 5 years on.

I don't want this post to be too long so I will try and condense a whole year into this next bit. Basically our first week was crazy, we spent time by the pool, explored the Disney Parks (yes we had unlimited free entry woop), went through extreme training at the Disney University and finally found out where we were going to be working. For me it was 6 months at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom followed by 6 months in retail at Hollywood Studios tower of terror.
The costume fitting was horrendous, those of you who have been to Disney will know of the crazy costumes (uniforms) the staff wear. I was presented with a lemon yellow floor length skirt, puffball blouse and frilly apron. I nearly vommed, for a girl who never wore skirts or frills it was my worst nightmare but I had no choice, I wore it or went home. To be fair after a few weeks of wearing it I got used to it and kinda quite liked it. There was alot to learn on the job but It was so much fun but serious hard work. Long hours and not much time off.

Working for Disney was harder than any job I had experienced before, they are not one of the worlds best companys for nothing!!! I had days where I really hated it but they were overuled by the magical days spent sprinkling pixie dust (literally) talking to kids about Cinderellas castle and seeing the smiles on their faces when they met Micky Mouse.

6 months on me and the girls were moved into an apartment complex with thousands of other college programme students, it was so much fun. Although I was underage and couldn't drink I had so much fun doing other things I didn't have time to think about drinking.....ok maybe thats a lie!!! But I still got to go clubs.

During my year I got to go to Miami, Puerto Rico and Colorado. I met and worked with people from all over the world, I ate the most amazing food, I shopped in huge malls, I went on a Disney Cruise and a royal carribean cruise to the Bahamas, rode tower of terror thousands of times and it never got boring, spent endless hours in magic kingdom, met celebrities and got to see wishes fireworks every single night.

Don't get me wrong, Disney was the hardest thing I ever did but at the same time the single most amazing thing I have ever done. At times I wanted to come home but I didn't and I am so glad I stayed till the end.I was so blessed to be given the opportunity and how many people out there can say they worked for the most magical place on earth.

Here are some pictures from my year at Disney (in no particular order)

LBDELIGHTFUL!!

LBD- New look (old)  Belt- Primark  Shoes- Primark
Bracelet- Macys

So I had a load of photos taken of this outfit and when I came to upload them they had kindly removed themselves from the memory card (personally I think the boyf deleted them but he wont admit to it). Annoyingly the only ones left were the bad ones so I apologise for the fact I look half asleep/drunk, I can assure you I was 100% sober as the dedicated driver of the evening.
This dress has been circulating my wardrobe for years, on the rare occasion that it makes it way out I always wonder why I don't wear it more often. It is so versatile and can be worn dressed up or dressed down, it really is the perfect little black dress.

Our garden is so beautiful at the moment, when we first moved in we both grumbled at the state of it as it was mid December and looked pretty glum and overgrown. I swear overnight last week it just bloomed and there are so many different coloured flowers sprouting out all over the place. I kind of like the overgrown jungle feel to it, which is probs a good job beacuse I wouldn't know the first thing about gardening.

ombre glitter nails

Just a quickie today... in the none rude sense!!!! I thought I would try my hand at ombre glitter names and if I do say so myself my first attempt isn't to shabby and it was suprisingly easy to do. I painted on a base coat of Barry M pink flamingo (i love this colour), I then painted the tips of my nails with a opaque silver rimmel polish (not sure of the name) before that dried I used a cheapy clear glitter polish to blend down the nail. And voila subtle glittery summer nails without the salon price tag :) I will definately be trying this out in different colours.

In the mean time I apologise for the constant changing of my blog design, I will settle on a design soon I promise!!!

Plleeaasseee help

I really am the worlds biggest technophobe and I am having nightmares with my blog design.

For some reason my header wont go in the middle of the page it sticks to the left and when I try and install a background (so it appears at the sides) it doesn't go all the way to the top, as you can see it stops about 3/4 to the top and the rest is just white around the header.

PLLEEAASSEEE help its driving me insane lol

I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to dresses. I always like the thought of wearing them but I never do and there is a big dress shaped hole in my wardrobe. I suppose I am still clinging on to my old tom boy ways, I always feel a bit silly when I wear them but whenever I do I always get complimented (maybe I should listen to people more).
Just recently I have found myself being drawn to looking at dresses whilst online. I will sit there for ages with the mouse hovering over the 'add to bag' button and there are times when the dress is lucky enough to make it into my basket but I always chicken out when I get to the checkout!!!! I need to get over this phobia, dresses really aren't that scary.
Anyway as the piggy bank is looking rather miserable this month, I thought I would share with you some larvly dresses I found online for £20.00 or less. Its almost rude to turn down something that's so pretty and so cheap. I am hoping the mint pleated dress will hop into my virtual basket at some point this week.

who shares my dress phobia?

p.s Before I go I need your help...... what photo editing software should I use. At the moment I am just using the upload from file tab for my images and they suck. I want to be able to arrange them all nicely etc

AARRRGGGHHH I got my legs out for this post. Count yourselves lucky ladies this doesn't happen very often!! My boyfriend hates that I wear tights all the time. Once upon a day the thought of tights would make me shudder but now I cant leave the house without them covering my thunder thighs.
I don't wear this aztec dress enough and it was only today I realised just how versatile it was, I am going to wardrobe shop more often and give my purse a break. Anyway I thought I would leave you with a little note that I would like to dedicate to the sun..

Dear Sun

Thank you for showing your face today, I mean it was about time really. How about you stick around for a bit, my wellies and umbrella could do with a break. My legs are also looking rather pasty and I am not the biggest fan of fake tan. It would be much appreciated if you made an appearance at the weekend, I would very much like a bbq. Please and Thank you.

Forever growing Barry M collection

Barry M is one of my absolute fav make up brands. Their packaging is fun, their nail varnishes are amazing and they are good friends with my bank account. Here are some of my make up collection

Peaches and cream blush

 Eyeliner pen (top swatch)
Brown liquid liner- Coffee shimmer (Bottom swatch)

These pictures really don't give the products full justice. I love the blusher, it looks quite garish in the pan but on your cheeks its a lovely peachy colour with an ever so slight shimmer. Its a gorgeous shade for the summer and looks lovely and pale skin like mine. Also I love the name of this blush, it makes me hungry :) You can buy this product for £4.59, I wouldn't advise using the brush though.

The one product I don't really like is the eyeliner pen. The nib is quite thick and although it is handy for doing winged eyeliner (spesh when you have wobbly hands like moi) you have to press quite hard to get a decent pigment. It also drys up very quick.

I do however love the liquid liner, I got bought this for my birthday and although I wasn't so sure at first (Brown isn't really something I'd go for) I really love it. You might be able to see in the picture the slight shimmer in the liner, this is great to use if your looking for a subtle look on your eyes as its not that dark. I layered it on quite thick on my hand to give you the full affect, its a lot lighter with just one coat. You can buy this for £4.79

If anyone asked me what make up product I couldn't live without it would definitely be mascara which is why it is super important that I have a good one. I am quite lucky to have long eyelashes but they a quite straight so I love mascaras that curl my lashes. Barry M state that their '3-in-1 Mascara provides everything you need in a mascara, it volumises, lengthens and curls without clumping'
At £6.19 it is reasonably priced and it does everything it claims to do

Lastly the crowning glory of all Barry M products.....their nail varnishes. This is only half of my collection, I have to say I am a little bit obsessed. I cant really pass a boots or superdrug without buying/wanting to buy one. At only £2.99 I think they are the holy grail of the nail varnish world, they go on easily, they dry quick and they last for ages. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their glitter polishes and I swear by the pink iridescent one which I have mentioned in a previous post.

And just for the hell of it I thought I'd throw in a piccie of my nail varnish collection

Do you share my love for Barry M?

Orange circle

I wanna share with you today my recent discovery Orange Circle . I have seen a few bloggers/youtubers talking about this website and always thought the t shirts were pretty cool but never got round to checking them out. Well today I did and oh boy am I glad a stumbled across this little website of dreams!! If your like me and like to throw on a baggy t shirt over a pair of skinny jeans and you are a lover of crosses, leopard print and peace signs then I beg you to check this site out. The only reason I haven't bought anything from there yet is because I cant bloody make my mind up which design I like best. Here are a few of my favs (They are all priced around £14.49)

The guys at Orange Circle have literally taken EVERYTHING that is on trend at the moment and stirred it all together in one big t shirt making saucepan. I love all of the designs on the website and I'm sure I will return there tonight and antagonise over with one to throw my cash at.

What do you guys think of this website?
